I finally figured out where to access the larger herds of Kiger Mustangs.
These are a unique breed of Wild Horse, I was too lucky with awesome evening light.

The First is a Grulla colored Band Stallion dubbed "Van Gogh" for his missing ear.
Apparently he always escapes when the attempt a gather, making him somewhat
of legend.

My recent trip to Eastern, Or started out slow. It was cold and many water sources
were frozen over. Last March I was able to see lot's of waterfowl. This single sighting
topped it all. They let me approach and shoot photos, go back to my truck for more
gear and all the while more and more landing.

Photography / The wonders of editing.
« on: April 17, 2012, 08:52:14 PM »
On my recent trip to Eastern, Oregon I was able to photograph a wild Mink.
I was happy to get an image and even posted one here. I was never really
happy with it because of foreground distractions. It is still by no means a top
end photo but I wanted to share the transformation.

Original.

Edited and cloned out distractions.

Photography / Some learning for me RAW.
« on: January 03, 2012, 06:19:42 PM »
As most of you know I have been shooting JPEG since my digital conversion.

Recently I decided to get on board and do some shooting in RAW format, It has
had it's challenges but I am starting to get it, I think!!!!!

Using Canon DPP for these shots before and after,

Before straight out of camera- well over exposed.

After with DPP and JPEG conversion.
