« on: August 01, 2018, 05:24:36 PM »
Almost time to start drooling again....driving those mountain roads early and late to see if the broods are out...
We're a year older, so start taking evening walks... push yourself away from the dinner table. Water not soda pop.

Check your shotgun shell supply now
Clean your smoothbore

Quandary for Clinton: Healthy gun, ammo sales fund wildlife programs

Today’s Seattle Times is reporting that Hillary Rodham Clinton and rival Bernie Sanders are both opening campaign offices in Washington, and this might provide Evergreen State hunters and gun owners an opportunity to confront the far left faithful with an “inconvenient truth” that boils down to a public relations victory for firearms enthusiasts.

Okay Boyz-n-Girlz...
Here we go again.

It's hatching time.  Now's the time to keep an eye peeled for grouse hatches. Considering the weather we're having, I anticipate a pretty good season this fall.

I-594: They passed it, now we get to see what’s in it

As provisions of Initiative 594 kick in today, the first signs of what this legislation means are beginning to show up exactly where the anti-gun proponents insisted they would not: Hunter Education and promoting firearms safety, according to a discussion unfolding right now on the Hunting-Washington forum that begins with a Tuesday memo from the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Grassroots versus gun grabbers: Planned October events show contrast

Anti-gun Seattle Mayor Ed Murray yesterday sent e-mail invitations to an Oct. 13 gathering at a private Belltown residence that is doubling as a fund raiser and pep rally for big money supporters of Initiative 594, ironically the day after a Nevada newspaper declared in a Sunday editorial that it is time for “an honest discussion about guns in America.”

General Discussion / Dueling initiatives: 10 zip codes v. the rest of us

It’s ten zip codes against the rest of state on gun control

The Spokane Spokesman-Review reported yesterday that the overwhelming majority of financial support for Initiative 594, the 18-page gun control measure pushed by the Seattle-based Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility (WAGR), comes from just ten zip codes in and around — surprise! — the Seattle area.

Hunting, shooting contribute to healthy economy, says NSSF
The National Shooting Sports Foundation today released a report that may not make gun prohibitionists happy, but tax collectors and economists in several states including Washington just might break out the party favors.

General Discussion / STOLEN GUN ALERT: URGENT!!!
« on: November 15, 2013, 10:24:58 AM »

Please be on the lookout for these eight guns, stolen in a residential burglary in Seatac on 11/14/2013

They belong to a friend of mine.

PLEASE circulate this list to everyone you know in the region, especially at GUN SHOPS or Loan shops where someone might try to pawn or sell one of these for quick cash.

If you encounter one of these firearms, please contact the police immediately, and then me VIA PM.

General Discussion / Nat'l forests open for hunting despite "shut down"
« on: October 10, 2013, 07:22:10 PM »
I did this examiner piece Thursday and it seems to have hit a nerve here and there. Maybe it's the headline.

‘Heavily armed’ citizens descending on federal lands
They will arrive with loaded rifles, shotguns and handguns, they will be wearing everything from camouflage to fluorescent orange, and as the Everett Herald reports today, nobody will be stopping the army of hunters headed afield for this weekend’s general deer season opener in Washington State.

Wolves / Wolf hunt sabotage manual
« on: August 15, 2013, 08:37:13 AM »

Wolf management saboteurs have playbook for disruption
While wolf hunting may be far in the future in Washington, they are hunted in neighboring Idaho and nearby Montana, and yesterday, a Michigan newspaper reported that wolf licenses will go on sale there Sept. 28, which explains this week’s flap over a “how to” manual for hunt saboteurs published by Earth First!

Upland Birds / CHOKE UP!
« on: August 12, 2013, 01:41:04 PM »
Okay, with only a couple of weeks remaining before Grouse-ageddon...

Which choke(s) do you prefer?  I'm all set with fixed-choke S/S guns and am debating whether to use I/C and Mod or I/M and Mod chokes on my new Franchi.

Time to shoot 'em and eat 'em

General Discussion / Feds will be huntin' hoot owls

Barreds of a feather shouldn’t flock together in Washington
Today’s Tacoma News Tribune is editorializing about the upcoming federal gun-down of barred owls, a skilled predator that the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service thinks may be responsible for a decline in Northern Spotted owls.
