I don't use a special HDR program.  When I use HDR processing, I can do it in one shot with Lightroom with the upper and lower adjustments.  It's only useful for me on high dynamic range landscapes.  They are more of a pain in the ass than they are worth and I can get about 90% of the results with Lightroom on one image.

It's a decent attempt at it Richard, but you can't shoot moving objects like trees with HDR or the moving limbs won't align properly.  It's a big limitation on HDR images and you can see where the limbs moved in your image.  I don't see much need for a lot of dynamic range in this shot anyways.

Didn't realize that, thanks. I know that the Canadians get really bent out of shape when U.S. person's guide other fishermen up there without a license, but that is only in reference to the CA guiding license, which understandably cuts into their livelihood, not sure I understand why a photo taken anywhere of natural wildlife would be illegal, seems a bit much. I've seen dozen's of Boundary Bay owl photo's for sale from different photographer's, they must have been CA residents.. There is one guy in particular who seems to make his living at that one area. Doesn't seem too enforceable, once you print a photo it is impossible to tell where it was taken, unless there are noted landmarks which is unlikely with that type of backdrop.

They took my phone and Timber's phone.  Looked through our emails and texts.  If they had found communication about doing a shoot up there it would be easy to prove.  They looked up our websites online as well.  I do donate images to non-profits from time to time so it's something to consider.  They asked us how much money in camera gear we had in the car and we hesitantly stated, 60k and (can't remember our actual numbers but it was close to that)

It's fine.  Just be mindful if you enter Canada with expensive lenses they tend to question whether you are taking pictures for money or even for donations to various non-profits.  I guess that is illegal and the common reason to get stopped at the border.  Last time I was stopped for about an hour or so.

I found this one at Boundary Bay last weekend.  I made a lot of peoples days by pointing him out to birdwatchers.

Love that little guy Shawn, what kind is it?

Northern Hawk Owl.  Definitely one of the best owls I've ever shot.  I have good images of them all but the Boreal, Spotted, Flammulated, and Pygmy owls.  Would love to get the rest soon.
