Bulk 223
« on: July 06, 2014, 12:35:10 PM »
I ordered one of those black guns!!! (Colt LE6920 SOCOM II AR-15 Semi Auto Rifle 1-7 twist) A friend talked me into it. He wanted someone to shoot with at the range.  Anyway, now I need bulk ammo and a scope? It will be used for plinking and yotes.

Very Nice! I really like having a 1x4 on mine. 30mm tube with that power would give you a nice FOV and great for up close and those medium range pokes.

You're going to love that thing Michael!

For coyote hunting and target shooting, I like to have a higher power scope myself, like a 4-14x50 or something similar.

We have a local place over here that sells 500 rounds of reloaded .223 for $180.00. I mostly only shoot hand loaded ammo out of mine though.

The Black Gun showed up and I grabbed a box of shells while I was there. Unfortunately because of all the smoke from the fires I am unable to go shoot it.   I did order a 1000 rounds today though. Now for a scope?

A 1-4 power would work for plinking, but I decided 4 power probably wasn't enough magnification for a 200 yard poke. I ordered a Leupold Mark 2 IMS Integral Mounting System Matte, 1 inch Ring 110290, Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 3-9x40mm P5 Dial Riflescope, Matte Black, Duplex Reticle 115389.

Not a bad choice at all. I like having a larger FOV for coyotes because when they are darting in and out of the sage, I can loose track of them with a higher magnification. If I was hunting fields, I'd go higher mag all the way.

I took the gun to the range this am. I got it on paper at 100yds. The factory trigger pull is 7 lbs. I just purchased a Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced Trigger SSA-E which is 3.5 lbs. I will be patiently waiting to install it.

That's common for mil-spec triggers. I experienced some frustration adapting to a trigger that was less than crisp. It drove me nuts in fact. Good thing those black guns are like big boy legos and you can add/swap out things pretty dang easy.
