Mechanical Broadheads
« on: October 12, 2015, 05:14:26 PM »
Has anyone used them on game? What were the results? I talked to a guy that was Elk hunting and had a 250 lb Bear walk right up to him. He had already ranged the Tree where the Bear stood at 31 yards. He shot the Bear center of chest with a 70lb compound bow.A perfect shot he claimed because he also had an illuminated knock and could clearly see the hit. The Bear spun ran down the hill and into the brush. He gave him 30 minutes and walked over to where he shot him.He found most of his arrow and no blood? He stated down hill and found the rest of the arrow? The Bear broke it off on the tree when he spun and then it fell out while he was running down the hill. It didn't have any blades in the broadhead? He never found any blood or the Bear. No penetration at all? He said he was using a brand new rage broadhead. He also said the screws were lose on the remaining blades on his arrows in his bow quiver.

Used a Rage on a buck a few years ago.  30 yards broadside, hit him just a touch high, but it looked like a garden hose of blood on the snow.  He went 30 yards and was pretty much completely bled out.  Just have to put the arrow where it needs to be, but that being said, I don't use them.  I use the Shuttle T's.

Did you have any problems with the screws backing out?

I shot Rage Extreme's in Mass. this year.  Worked on this little guy, slightly quartered to heart shot at 20 yds.

That is the entry wound in the pic.
