Also try ronwold.com for draw odds/percentages.   Mark I think you have 12 points, at least I do.

Great! ... point out that I actually have one more year to wait!!!  :bash: You really know how to kick a guy when he's down

Yep the 110% raise in their prices has me stuck in it with my 13 points until I am drawn and only if I'm drawn then I'm done with Oregon!

How do you figure 110% increase? I wish it was only that much.

2009:                          2010:
License:   76.50            License:   140.50
Elk Tag:  361.50            Elk Tag:   500.50
App. Fee:   4.50            App. Fee:    8.00
Total:   442.50              Total:      649.00

Looks to me like 147% increase for elk hunting. Maybe somebody can check my math?

Obviously I wasn't getting technical there bobcat heck I didn't even remember how many points I had  ... to be honest with you I just knew roughly what the license and app fee's were increased by and threw out a number that was a hell of a lot more than they were!!!

I was just wondering if anybody knew about the rifle buck seaason in this murderers creek unit? I'm looking for a new place to hunt and some of my buddies said this was a good place to go for big bucks. Sled springs unit is my normal huntin spot but I haven't had good luck the last couple years due to the rising number of predators including wolves.

Since this post came back up it got me thinking??? Bobcat I ran some numbers for you,

 2009:                          2010:
License:   76.50            License:   140.50  = 83.6%
Elk Tag:  361.50            Elk Tag:   500.50  = 38.4%
App. Fee:   4.50            App. Fee:    8.00   = 77.8%
Total:   442.50              Total:      649.00   = 46.7%

Now this is the first I actually did the math, before I just threw out a number partially out of frustration knowing it was a hell of allot more than it used to be and also cause I forgot the exact numbers until you posted them for me ... What math did you use to reach 147%?
sounds like the same math that some use to measure their animals???

GT, i hunted the murderers creek unit the oct. 26th hunt for elk and seen some dandy mule deer bucks, 165-185 class bucks, i realize the elk hunt is later than the deer hunt and not sure of migratory patterns, but there was no weather to push animals around. So i am assuming the bucks i seen were locals.

Thanks for the welcome. I was impressed with the elk hunt, i managed to kill a 6x6 bull, but was more impressed with the mule deer that were in there.

Don't forget when you look at the wenaha, walla walla draw, the outfitters get the tag every other year so if a guy is 3 points behind on the points to draw he is actually 6 years behind. The outfitters sell the outfitter tag every year, in fact they have a waiting list.

I love hunting Oregon, but I have drawn out all of my points and am done with the state, which is sad.  We've killed a bunch of bulls in  Murderers creek on the rifle hunt PM me and I'll give you some info, I haven't done the archery hunt for 10 plus years, but if you go early you can avoid the crowd. Like mentioned in another post the cost rise should lower hunter numbers, especially in this unit which is one of the more popular for nonresidents.

The rifle hunt is better than the archery hunt.
