I can't speak to reservations.  I would say in areas open to public hunters (public or private lands), there are 10 preseason and 5 postseason in Chelan Co.  In the rest of the sate, I will say 10 and 5 also.  So, going into the season I say there are 20, and 10 that survive the season to hit winter range.  Of those, I suspect no more than 5 survive to the following season.

In 15 seasons as a game bio in WY and WA, I saw less than 20 hunter harvested bucks that netted 190.  On the hoof, I would say I've seen 20 also.  I figure that is roughly 20 out of 70,000 bucks.  I think 1:3500 is reasonable.

If you pass 100 bucks a year, in season, I figure it will take you a lifetime of hunting to kill an all-time record book typical mule deer.  I've muffed my chance on only one that I knew was a for sure B&C buck.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to shoot what, with what, when.

Ok subtract the unhuntable areas.  I will agree with Micheal 40.  Chelan Co is over hunted in my opinion and holds only a tiny fraction of the 190 bucks in this state.

I don't think we will ever know.

I do however think that just because you don't see them, that doesn't mean they are not there.  There are still places in this state that hold big bucks and places where a man rarely travels through.  I have no doubt that there is a monster or two in the location that I hunt, but it's finding him in that short period of time that causes problems.
Deja vu.

I think that the ne corner could easly hold twenty it's so rough and much is un hunted , give desert one se five , north central five and cental including chelan county ten , throw one or two in the three hundred units . my number wold be 45-50 not counting reserve's or reservations . I've been lucky enough to see two in wa and one in Idaho in my life time .

I put my hands every year on several over 190" gross off the reservation, and I know a good portion on them don't hunt a fraction of the land they can.  Not including the rez, I'd say 20 statewide at the high end. :twocents:

On huntable land to teh public I'd say less than 30.  Maybe another 15-20 if you count the reservation based on all the stories I hear about that place.

I just can't see this state holding 60, 70 or more 190 bucks.

I guess I would throw a question to all the shed hunters.  What percentage of single sheds score greater than 83.  Multiply by 2 with a 24" spread credit and no deductions, that's what it would take for a 190 net.  I'm guessing the percentage that are found is extremely small.  My guess would be definitely less than a 100 in the state, probably much less, maybe 40-50.
