Three bucks, one bluff
« on: June 24, 2011, 07:46:16 PM »
I was looking thru old pics and thought I would share a cool story:

We have hunted our same area for generations and to say we have it figured out would be an understatement.  Although there is not much public ground where I grew up, there are a few places that can produce if you know where to look.   We have a bluff that must have bucks in it every day in September, every year on a little piece of BLM.   My dad, brother, and I all killed deer from under this bluff (with bows) from 2001-2006.

Here are the pics of those bucks.  As you can see, the old man is still showing us up!

That buck is 25" wide!  I shot a buck that had ears that were 28" tip to tip. I was surprised that it was 29" wide when I got my hands on it.

All the more reason I say you can't judge a muley by its  ears.

I know....I got a lot of crap for shooting that one.  First, because it was a dink and second, because it was blind.

I shot it from so close it was crazy - like 4 feet from the end of my arrow at full draw.   I remember thinking "do I use my pin or shoot instinctive?"   I used my 20 yard pin, but had to adjust for the distance between by pin and my rest.  Really awkward shot straight down into the back.
