Colville Tribes Holding Washington’s First Wolf Hunt
« on: December 04, 2012, 08:01:11 PM »
For the first time in the state’s modern history, a regulated wolf hunt is going on in Washington.

With approval recently from the business council, a season began about a week ago or so on the “south half” of the Colville Confederated Tribes’ sprawling reservation in Okanogan and Ferry Counties where at least two packs and possibly a third roam.

introduce speed goats and hunt wolves, the Tribes get all the fun.

Wow that was fast?

Are wolf tags available for non-tribal members?

I'd guess that's entirely up to the tribe.  Example: The bear hunts offered by some of the peninsula tribes.  The tribe votes on how many /which member(s) is allowed to guide hunts for non-members, and they decide how many tags to delve out.  If they do offer them, almost guaranteed it will be expensive! [low supply + high demand = $$$]........ I'm out!!

I contacted the Colville Tribes Fish and Game today. They only offer small game hunting on their Land at this time. I asked about any Non Tribal member Wolf hunts in the near future and they replied not in the next year or two anyway?

And the reason is, the rez works very hard at keeping their wolf population down at all times. In 09 I talk to some friends from the rez, they said they had been having wolf meetings in the woods for awhile. Too bad WDFW cares more about federal money than the game herds. Wolf hunting in the Methow might be a better opportunity for those of you who are intersted in wolf hunting. I have heard it's alot of fun, the only draw back is, you can't talk about it in certain circles.
